The English Ladies Co. wanted to celebrate the fascinating Celtic Ladies of our past. Our Celtic Lady for Wales proudly wears the Welsh national dress including a distinctive tall black hat fringed with white lace, a bright red coat and a shawl. This is the type of attire once worn by Welsh countrywomen, designed for everyday hard wear. It was typically made in the home which meant that styles varied across different parts of Wales. Notice that her apron is adorned with daffodils, the national flower of Wales.
The Celts lived in most areas of Europe in ancient times. Today, traces of their culture and language are passionately preserved in areas of England, especially Cornwall and in Wales, Scotland and Ireland.
